Bergenfield porcelain veneersPorcelain veneers are popular with our Bergenfield-area patients for a number of reasons. They are durable, beautiful and quite inconspicuous. Porcelain veneers are great options for patients trying to address a wide range of cosmetic smile imperfections, including:

  • Chipped, cracked or broken teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Crooked teeth
  • Discolored teeth
  • Unevenly sized or shaped teeth
  • Severely worn teeth

In addition to their versatility, porcelain veneers are popular for another important reason: they won't stain.

Veneers are, obviously, made from a thin porcelain shell, and that shell repels stains. You won't have to worry about your veneers picking up stains from the food and drinks you consume. This is definitely a tremendous advantage.

However, it's important to understand a couple of things. First, your natural teeth obviously will stain. This includes the teeth that surround your veneers. Therefore, your veneers will stand out if you allow your natural teeth to become discolored. So maintaining diligent dental hygiene practices is obviously important.

Second, the fact that veneers don't stain doesn't mean you can just ignore them. It's important that you care for your porcelain veneers with the same attention you devote to your natural teeth. If you don't properly care for your veneers, you will not get the same benefits from your veneers, and they will not last as long as they otherwise would.

We will be happy to answer any other questions you might have about porcelain veneers, and we will also show you how to care for them if you're unclear on that point.
