What is a Root Canal?
The root canal itself is the space inside of the tooth that contains the root and nerves, and ends in the pulp chamber. What is most commonly thought of as a root canal is an endodontic procedure in which bacteria and debris are removed from the pulp chamber of an infected tooth. When a tooth is infected, a root canal becomes the only way to protect it from being lost and the most effective way to deal with discomfort and additional symptoms.
